So once in a while you meet people who really just have that SPECIAL personality. This young man is proof that such people exist.
This young man Has charisma, spunk, personality and most importantly strong morals.
Linzey is always fun to shoot, not only because of his ability to take a great photo, but he truly embodies every character you tell him to be. I always have fun with him at every shoot, and I always get amazing photos. Even if I think we are done for the day, Linzey will have a crazy awesome, creative idea that I didn't even think of! As a photographer that is our dream. Give us some creativity as a model, and we can create magic on the other side.
In this blog I will show how you can go from a classic timeless look, to a retro "skater boy" shot. We needed some fashion shots and athletic shots for his portfolio so this was very fun for me. Outfits truly can make or break a photo shoot.
This shoot was on location in the same 100ft radius right before the sun set. I love shooting with natural light. It gives me some of my best photos when the sun cooperates. I find myself falling in love with natural light more and more each time I shoot on location photos.
The key is to FIND THE LIGHT and correctly your reflectors. My advice would be to play around with them and figure out all the balances and sun bursts you can create. Also try to become comfortable with finding your light before you use them. Otherwise the whole shoot will take WAY longer than you intended, and it creates a lot of frustration as a photographer when you can't figure something out in a fast manner.
Photographers, not ever think a photo shoot means ONE LOOK. These were all done within an hour and we had so much fun as well. I advise any photographer that has a shy model to play "dress up" in the mirror before the shoot.
Models, do not be afraid to think outside the box and be something your not. Sometimes this can help the creative process, and it helps with the nerves as well.
Bottom line is ...
This isn't rocket science, and you aren't being graded. Be silly, be you...HECK, be someone else for a change! Be creative and create art!
Stay classy my friends
The man behind the lens of Uproar Fest
"It's the music that brings us together"
Uproar music festival is not just about the bands and the fans but it's a real close community. My husband and I would of never met if this tour was not started, seeing that we met on it and all lol.
Everyone becomes your family. It is a job, but it is also home for a long time while tour buses travel the country for many.
Along this journey my husband met a very talented man by the name
Strati Hovartos. He is not only the photo and media guru on this tour but he is a rockstar at what he does.
Not many people know the life of touring...
Living on a bus, snack food as meals, beds the size of a drawer and minimal showering. Strati does all this and more. Not only does he shoot footage all day for Uproar fest AND Mayhem music festival, but he hops on the bus right after and gets to editing. Every single day, sorting through thousands of photos picking out the best, while enjoying the bumpy road.
Music festivals are fun but they are not his only gigs. Strati lives in Los Angeles CA, and working in the entertainment and film industry. His talent sure does not go to waste my friends. I was lucky enough to tag along with Mr. Hovartos this past labor day weekend in Tampa FL and get some awesome footage of not only the bands, but the man behind the lens. He has a really cool way of shooting and i tried to learn and use his work for inspiration.
All work displayed is mine from the show, but feel free to go check Strati out on istagram!
Dance Like everyone is watching!
Through the years dancing has gotten me through so much. And this weekend really made me realize why I fell in love with such an amazing art.
This past weekend I attended an awesome Dance off in Tampa FL. It was full of fun, dancing and all for a good cause.
Mira TV Hosted their first "Back to School Dance off & Auditions". To get in, everyone had to bring school supplies for local schools. I was early, and the barrel was overflowing!
It was so cool to see people of all ages giving back to the community.
Not was it a great way to help out, but Mira TV had dance auditions as well.
30 lucky dancers were selected from the auditions for a televised commercial.
Mira TV were a great group and really made the event amazing.
Guest Judges Included...
MouseVader, Dreama Davidson, Valerie Morales and Carla C. Thomas-Johnson
(Click below for details on the judges!)
Yes it was a competition, and let me tell you, it was fierce!
But, there was such a support and love through each and every audition.
Even with all that said, the judges had a TOUGH decision on their hands!
What I Love about the dance community, is that we accept all. Yes there will always be the negative Nancy's, but through dance, there is a bond created. We all seem to know how it feels to love dance no matter what style we choose and accept one another and not HATE. This past weekend, really showed me how dance evolves, but it's still all from the same root word.."DANCE" so we all can relate.
No matter if you are a ballerina, b-boy or tapper, we all have a mutual love and understanding.
These kids truly showed that Sophisticated is about being yourself, but still arriving on time, being prepared and professional.
Keep it classy ladies and gents, and keep dancing!!
Below is some live footage from the auditions. Take a look!
Art, free drinks, walking and Meet new people?? Sign me up!
So some of you may not know this, but I moved to Orlando recently, and have really been trying to figure it out. Theres almost so much to do here, sometimes it's overwhelming. I will say I turn to my Orlando weekly for all things networking. I saw this and it really intrigued me......
THORTON PARK'S SECOND THURSDAY WINE AND ART WALK!
Please do not be mistaken, it is not just wine, it's liquor too HAH!
But no really, it is all that, plus awesome local art. Anything that supports working artists is AMAZING!
As a working photographer, I really appreciate people that appreciate art.
This event is really cool!
You get given a map like this ...
You meet at the 1st meeting spot, you pay $10 and you get a wristband and a cup.
You CANNOT lose this cup! Without the cup YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO DRINK!
So once you have all you things in order, have your map.."Check!", Got your cup "CHECK CHECK!" , now we are on our way.
The map is awesome, because if you get lost and a little "dizzy", you can always know where the meeting stations are.
Once you start walking you start to wonder...."Wait so I am drinking...Where's the art?!?" As you Walk to each station, there are local artists and companies that display their work. Not only is it supporting artists, but you are also boosting Orlando's economy. Go you!
As the drinks start flowing, and people start to gather, you realize how smart this is. No matter how much we don't want to admit it, we care what people think. Yes, some of us don't, but a lot of us do. To me, this is a smart tactic. You drink, mingle, and buy. You are not only buying peoples art though. This gathering also works as a business event too. It allows people to feel comfortable, to be "them" without the taboo of it being a "business thing".
As a business owner, my company is my baby. It is my everything. It is what I make of it. I put my all into it, and hope people will like it. But honestly, I'm petrified of what people will take away from it. I am very proud, but very hesitant at the same time. So this Wine and art walk is not just about that, its about bringing people with similar interests together, and also bringing entrepreneurs and business minded people in one area. It allows us to test the waters. You can hang out with friends and drink, but still enjoying art and spreading the word of small businesses.
Don't just take my word for it.
Art is life and life is art.
The Second Thursday of every month.

Meet Dustin Chandler.
I met Dustin through my husband and really didn't know what to expect. I go to these things kind of with a get in, get out kinf of mentality. But Dustin surprised me. I was not only surprised by all his awesome ink, but he surprised me.
I asked Dustin what being "Sophisticated" Meant to him....
"Sophisticated means being yourself, loving who you are i your own skin whether you are covered in tattoos or an empty canvas. It's showing your inner self on the outside. I tend to go with the suit and tie look. But I also love to roll my sleeves up, loosen up my tie and get my hands dirty if need be.
Keep it simple, keep it fashionable and keep it classy my friends"
He is not only a lover of music, art and ink, but he is also a loving father and Entrepreneur. He is a partner of a company fusing the same 3 elements we do. Music, Art and Ink. Listen here people. I do not care how corny I sound when I say this...But ONE LOVE. We are are on this earth for s short time and cannot focus on separating such wonderful things like art music and passion. Why not create a world where are cultures come together and share art. Crazy thought right?
Be passionate, be different, be you...BE SOPHISTICATED
Stay classy Ladies and Gents!
And we are off! This will be first of many Art, music and ink blogs coming your way.
In todays world art music and ink seem to rule the world.
It is not as taboo as it all used to be. We are free to be starving artists, musicians, and have permeant art all over our bodies. Even though this is true, we should always carry ourselves with some class and sophistication.
This year we started attending tattoo conventions on the east coast.
Do not get me wrong they are awesome! But our first one was a little intimidating. We walk in and set up our booth, while the eyes of convention veterans judge us. Yes they were nice, but we were far from "belonging" to their culture it seemed.
I have a bunch of tattoos, but at that time i had none that showed. I was really looked down upon as I would walk up to booths and artists trying to network. But as I talked more, they warmed up to me.
My smiles and inability to shut up, finally started to pay off.
"THEY LIKE ME, THEY REALLY LIKE ME!!"
As we started to attend more and more tattoo conventions, we saw that no matter what we all judge who is different from us, at least from a first glance. We have met some of the nicest and most loyal people at these shows.
But isn't that how it is all the time? Even though our artistic views are a bit more accepted, We walk in with out tattoos and fun outfits and we are "weird". I do not believe it will ever vanish, but it seems as if "weird" is the new black.
Now we we are starting to truly flourish in this industry and we hope to keep climbing the ladder of success!
So be proud of what you stand for. But also remember people stand around you. Accept everyones "weirdness", because your never know when you will need it. Stay true and be Sophisticated ladies and gentleman, lets take over this world withArt, Music and Ink!
I have found a new love of art and music as I design this site. Sophistication is key and we really live it here at Sophisticated Ent. And now….We have a growing independent record label, photography experts, marketing and artist management company. I cannot wait to fully launch this site to you all and to share all the AMAZING music we create. Stay Sophisticated!
